ENES210- Entrepreneurial Opportunity Analysis and Decision-Making in 21st Century Technology
This course focused on helping develop a better understanding of the principles of entrepreneurial opportunity analysis and decision-making in the rapidly developing technological society. As a accounting and finance major, this course helped me apply the various technical skills I have to a real example where I could see all the moving parts from establishing a budget to marketing my product. We focus on a new step in the process every week so that we can get a wholistic view of creating a product or service. For my product, I chose to create an application that would help during the pandemic to under educated children. While Zoom has been the main dominator of video service applications, it is a difficult platform for children to focus and learn from with its bland and stoic layout. My application, Tinker, is a tailored video application platform that is used specifically for teaching younger children. It has embedded learning tools such as puzzle games and quizzes for the students to have a more enjoyable and interactive learning experience. This course was very valuable in teaching the basic principles of many different aspects in product creating and promotion.
Artifact: Class Assignment
Each week we do an activity to further our development of product. For my artifact, it was an assignment where we had to describe the basis of our product and constructing the minimum viable product. This was my first time creating an actual idea that I had and putting it on paper. It helped me use my creativeness to formulate a potential app that I can use to learn more about product development. I chose to upload this artifact because I had always struggled to think outside of the box or create new original ideas but this project allowed me to expand my view and find something that I am interested in to create something from.
Practicum Applications
As previously mentioned, I am majoring in both accounting and finance so this course gave me a glimpse into real product creation. It was interesting to see the various accounts and vocabulary used in my other courses seen applied here where I am in charge of my own product. The skills of creativity, research, promotion, organization and much more will all assist me in my future career within the business realm.
